Financial Reporting Accountant (Lead)

Head, Finance & Treasury

• The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for preparing, analysing, and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and reports. This role entails working closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with the Cooperative’s accounting policies and regulatory standards.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process and implement audit recommendations
• Conduct analysis of financial results, comparing actuals to budget and forecast, and provide explanations for variances
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting
• Reviewing, implementing, and adapting new and existing financial systems and controls.
• Analyse the general ledger transactions, CAPEX, OPEX and Revenue and all transactions posted into Financial Statements to ensure proper classification and correction, as well as aging of all Balance Sheet accounts.
• Reviewing, implementing, and adapting new and existing financial systems and controls.
• Collaborate with other team members to gather necessary information and provide financial insights
• Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required by management.

• Proficiency in financial reporting and accounting software
• Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Awareness of business trends.
• Experience in project accounting.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
• Excellent planning skills and able to interact with all levels.
• Good MS Office skills particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Must be focused and result-oriented.
• Able to work independently and highly meticulous.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Relevant Professional certification – ICAN, ACCA or CIMA
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial reporting
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
